Part One of best-selling author Bill Kitson's Eden House Mysteries.

A chilling tale of murder, madness, and what happens when ghosts from the past won’t stay in their graves.

When former journalist Adam Bailey agrees to spend Christmas at ancient Mulgrave Castle, he knows there is an ulterior motive behind the invitation. His old flame, Harriet, and her husband, Sir Anthony Rowe, want Adam to investigate the legend of an old family curse – a curse said to have claimed several victims, and which may be due to strike again …

Soon, heavy snow cuts off the castle from the outside world, and the guests become aware that the curse has indeed claimed a new victim – but how? Adam, aided by Harriet’s feisty sister Eve, seeks to discover if the death is linked to the mysterious disappearances that have occurred over the centuries.

Is there the usual foul play afoot – or is someone powerless to resist the force of a far older evil?

Silent as the Grave Eden House Mysteries Book 1 edition by Bill Kitson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I very much enjoyed this story. There is a lot going on in this large country manor house where family and friends have become marooned to due heavy snows. The author was able to create a setting that makes one feel they are there in that cold and spooky castle surrounded by snow and evil.

When former investigative reporter and TV correspondent Adam Bailey agrees to spend Christmas at Mulgrave Castle, he knows there is an ulterior motive behind the invitation. His old flame, Harriet, and her husband want him to investigate the legend of an old family curse said to have claimed several victims amongst Sir Anthony's ancestors. Is there is any truth in the tales of inherited insanity? Will it strike again? Or is it greed and revenge creating all the havoc?

I like Adam Bailey and look forward to reading more about him and his exploits. Highly recommend

Silent as the Grave Eden House Mysteries Book 1 edition by Bill Kitson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

If you like mysteries set in rural England, with ancient musty houses and questionable family histories, this is the book for you. The pace is lively and, the butler did not do it! In fact, I was unable to figure out the culprit. This is a fun and entertaining read at any price.
Adam really makes a pretty good detective! I had a hard time putting this book down. Never a dull moment! Buy it and enjoy!
I had occasional thoughts about who the murderer was, but each was wrong until close to the end. I had a difficult time putting this book down and enjoyed the pros as well as the plot. I thought it was quite well written and pretty much well edited as well. I like a good mystery, and this one certainly fill the bill.
It's lucky I'm retired, because I would have missed work today. Ive been up all night and did not have to suspend belief once. It was a good read and except for a few typos made sense and was believable.. I would read this author again and recommend this book.
A fascinating tale. Classic English country house mystery with Gothic elements. Towards the end of the story you will find yourself unable to stop reading until the final resolution. If there is one thing that I didn't care for was the author withheld from the reader information that our protagonist knew. Yet our hero revealed all his thoughts and feelings throughout the book. Still, it was a very entertaining read.
Christmas at Mulgrave Castle. That tells you this book will be suspenseful. And it is. There is a snow storm and death creeps in. All the inhabitants are stuck in the castle not knowing which is the killer. There are humorous moments, secret tunnels and romance. What more can a mystery fan ask for?
Adam, a mystery author and retired war correspondent received an invitation to a Christmas week celebration at the home of an old friend and her husband. The home was a ancient English Castle. The cast of characters attending the celebration included the hosts' family, friends and business acquaintances.

Some attendees go missing and are found dead. Adam and family members suffer suspicious accidents and attempts on their lives. They are all snowed in and the location is too remote for assistance from the police. Adams takes it upon himself to find the killer and solve the mystery.

This was an enjoyable suspense with an ending you won't see coming. I recommend this book.
